Dr. Ewa Roos


Professor

Dr. Ewa Roos is Professor of Physiotherapy and Head of Research Unit for MSK Function and Physiotherapy at the University of Southern Denmark. She focuses her research on osteoarthritis resulting from lower extremity injury and on outcomes methodology, including development of the Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). KOOS data is commonly collected in clinical trials and cohorts is available from more than 100,000 unique patients in clinical databases and registries from around the world. Notably, Dr. Roos is the creator of the Good Life with osteoArthritis Denmark (GLA:D®)program.GLA:D is a neuromuscular exercise and patient education program delivered in primary care to OA patients that has been shown to increase function and decrease disability. Since 2013, this program has been delivered to more than 35,000 patients by over 1000 physiotherapists in Denmark. In 2014 she received the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) Clinical Research Award. She was also awarded the Queen Ingrid of Denmark’s Prize for Outstanding Arthritis Research by Queen Margrethe II and the Danish Rheumatism Association.
