Dr. Deborah Jehu is a MHSRS-funded postdoctoral research fellow mentored by Dr. Liu-Ambrose, and will be starting in August 2018. She will be managing a study comparing the efficacy of two balance training programs to improve cognitive function, functional mobility, dual-tasking, and physiological falls risk in older adults with mild cognitive impairment and impaired mobility. She has hands-on experience designing and implementing therapeutic interventions, including: multifactorial exercise and balance training in older adults, two dual-task balance training in older adults (Motor Control, 2017; Gait Posture, 2017; Aging Clin Exp Res, 2017), rehabilitation following total knee replacement (Gait Posture, 2018; Phys Ther, 2018), and vestibular, ocular-motor and balance rehabilitation post-mild traumatic brain injury (Phys Ther Protocols, Submitted). She also has experience overseeing the development of a home-exercise monitoring system using wearable inertial sensors with industry partners, to inform clinicians of the quality of and adherence to the home-exercise program. Dr. Jehu values the importance of knowledge translation and actively engages in these activities, such as blog posting, public seminars, and educational workshops for physical activity specialists.
